The academy had to be weathertight for the new school year, fixing an immovable handover date with no tolerance for slippage.
As a public education building, the facade required a robust, low-maintenance, vandal-resistant specification within a tightly controlled budget.
We pre-fabricated rainscreen cassettes and curtain wall units off site to compress the on-site programme and de-risk the weather-tightness milestone.
A through-coloured terracotta and aluminium rainscreen provided a durable, graffiti-resistant and low-maintenance facade suited to a school environment.
PAS 24 windows and impact-resistant glazing were specified at accessible levels for security and resilience.
The building was handed over weathertight ahead of the September term with the full facade package complete.
The robust specification has minimised maintenance and the academy opened on schedule for over 1,200 pupils.
